2020: In Pictures

31 August 2020: Boys Bathtime
After Gertrude's bath the other day, Fred and Muddy were also in need. They bravely survived the wash then dried out nicely on the line.

30 August 2020: Flower Bed
This is Noirin's newly designed and installed flower bed.

29 August 2020: Noirin & Sally
This is normally my default position but today Sally perched on Noirin's side for cuddles. It was super cute.

28 August 2020: Bedraggled Giraffe
Getrude was involved in an unfortunate incident with some cat urine so she had to have a nice bath in the washing machine. The poor thing was a bit bedraggled when she emerged, but clean at least.

27 August 2020: Tidy Kitchen
I eventually cleared away the last of the boxes under the kitchen bench.

26 August 2020: Volcom Belt
The one belt I use regularly was looking a bit tired so I splashed out on a new one.

25 August 2020: Karina's Card
We received this lovely card from Karina. We miss her too but hopefully it won't be long before we see her again.

24 August 2020: Half Holly Half Hippo
After being a good sister and offering to take Holly out for a walk, I cemented my position as Cool Auntie Jill by letting her go in as many muddy puddles as possible before returning her to Ali and Carl.

23 August 2020: Satisfaction
I found it ridiculously satisfying how perfectly this oven tray fit into the washing up bowl. Excuse the dirty water - it hadn't been washed yet.

22 August 2020: Cow
I went for a walk and met a cow. I'm not entirely sure the cow was happy to meet me, but we made it work.

21 August 2020: Wild Hair
The wind was pretty mad today, so even with something over my head to tame part of it, I still developed an interesting look.

20 August 2020: Soup
My sort of cooking almost always consists of throwing as many vegetables as possible into the slow cooker and calling it a soup.

19 August 2020: Nemesis
I eventually finished painting the large fence in the back garden and managed to do this smaller one too. The entire fence is a nemesis which I'm pleased to say I have now defeated!

18 August 2020: Snuggle Day
Another rainy, lazy, snuggly day with Sally. She insisted!

17 August 2020: Old & New
I forgot I had this shirt and was surprised to find it still fit as I was convinced it wouldn't close. It made a nice accompaniment to my new shorts which were eventually available for collection at Matalan.

16 August 2020: Ice Cube Trays
Noirin asked me to buy some silicon muffin trays so that she could make panna cotta but this was the closest available in Morrisons. It worked!

15 August 2020: Moffat Grave
In our family WhatsApp group my mam mentioned our Uncle Noel this morning. He died in Burma during the war and is buried over there but there's an inscription for him on his parents' grave. I didn't know this existed in a Jesmond cemetery until today so I immediately wanted to go over there and have a look for it. Despite not really knowing where the grave was I managed to stumble upon it after about half an hour of aimless wandering. It made me feel quite emotional!

14 August 2020: Homemade Naans
I had a flash of inspiration before reheating chilli con carne for tea tonight, and remembered a recipe I read months ago for a basic naan bread made using only greek yoghurt and self-raising flour. It was very strange for me to find myself baking on a Friday night but I was impressed at how the naans turned out.

13 August 2020: Boost
Since our internet hub was moved to the back of the house, I noticed that the wifi connection in the shed at the front was pretty weak. My solution was to buy this handy little device to extend the range.

12 August 2020: Salmon Shirt
I finally went to get my Matalan 'Click & Collect' order, which contained this shirt.

11 August 2020: Weights
I've wanted some weights to use at home for a while but earlier in lockdown it was impossible to get them. The set I ordered arrived today.

10 August 2020: Orange Lillies
The red and yellow lillies came out a few days ago but I was waiting for the orange ones to show up and here they are!

9 August 2020: Divine Connection
This was a lovely meditation for a peaceful Sunday.

8 August 2020: Bathroom - After
What a transformation! We're blown away with how good it looks. Well worth the money and the hard work that went into it.

7 August 2020: Plaque
John did us a huge favour by finally attaching the plaque to Maggie's bench. He even gave it a polish first, what a bloke!

6 August 2020: Oops
This little box was hanging from a frayed cable in the corner of the bathroom window. When John, who's been doing the work on our bathroom, asked if he should remove it I said of course he should, it looks old and pointless. It turned out to be entry point for the phone line coming into the house so the wifi promptly went off and I had to ring BT to confess to being an idiot and ask for an engineer to fix it.

5 August 2020: Welfare Wriggles
A quick run around the field along at the Welfare was an opportunity for Holly to wriggle on the ground like a lunatic.

4 August 2020: Step 12 Homework
My work through the 12 steps continues - these are my latest set of questions to answer for step 12.

3 August 2020: Bathroom - Before
Works starts today on our new bathroom. I will not be sorry to see the back of this hideous room.

2 August 2020: Return of the Unicorn
I realised I haven't worn my unicorn slippers for a while so they've been brought back into circulation. The cat is not a fan!

1 August 2020: Beanbag Chair
The chair I was using in the Zoom Shed was so uncomfortable that the floor had become a better option. This beanbag chair from Argos is my solution.
